WHAT IS THE DENVER BID COUNCIL?
The Denver BID Council is a collaborative network of Business Improvement Districts throughout Denver, working together to strengthen our city's commercial areas and improve the quality of life for businesses, property owners, and residents.
The BID Council serves as a unified voice for Denver's diverse districts, sharing best practices, advocating for policy improvements, and creating stronger connections between BIDs and the City of Denver.
Supported by Downtown Colorado, Inc. (DCI), the Denver BID Council is committed to enhancing communication with City departments, improving the visibility of BIDs, and providing valuable tools to help all downtown districts thrive.
DENVER BIDS' COLLECTIVE IMPACT
BIDs contribute significantly to Denver's economy and quality of life by:
- Increasing Sales Tax Revenue: BIDs help businesses thrive, generating substantial tax revenue that benefits the entire city
- Business Retention & Recruitment: BIDs provide crucial support to keep existing businesses and attract new ones
- Enhancing Public Spaces: BIDs invest in beautification and maintenance, creating cleaner, safer, and more attractive streets
- Supporting Economic Development: BIDs drive investment and help transform underutilized properties into productive spaces
- Building Community Connections: BIDs foster stronger neighborhoods by bringing people together through events and programs
- Extending City Services: BIDs supplement and enhance City services, easing pressure on municipal departments
BIDs are essential partners in addressing urban challenges like retail vacancies, homelessness, public safety, and community engagement. Through innovative solutions and collaborative approaches, Denver's BIDs are helping to create a more resilient, inclusive, and vibrant city.
WHAT ARE BIDS?
Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) are special districts created by property owners and businesses within a defined area to enhance their commercial corridor or neighborhood. BIDs are funded through a special assessment on properties within the district's boundaries, allowing them to provide services and improvements beyond what the City typically offers.
